The Rho Tau chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was founded on August 7,1990 on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan University in Norfolk, Virginia.
The chapter re-charted to the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville on March 9, 2004 by "The Emissaries of the Golden Age." They were indeed emissaries, bringing Alpha Phi Alpha to the state of Indiana. Simultaneously at DePauw University, the Sigma Phi chapter had been de-chartered. The Emissaries made a visit to DePauw University and came in contact with four men, whom would make up the third line of the Rho Tau chapter, "The Pharaohs of Phortitude."
Ever since then the Rho Tau chapter has prospered on DePauw’s campus, the chapter has made sure that Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. remains an active, present, and indistinguishable force on the DePauw's campus for now and for years to come.
